Over half of bankruptcies are in the aftermath of medical emergencies

The Republicans in Congress are trying to pass a bill that will essentially make bankruptcy available only for the wealthy. They even turned down an exemption fo soldiers with bills resulting from being called to duty in Iraq. There are pretty clear links between sponsors, credit card companies and banks. Talking Points Memo (TPM), which continues to lead the fight against the destruction of social security, has allowed Elizabeth Warren, the bankruptcy law expert in the US, and three of her students from Harvard Law school to set up a special "Bankruptcy Edition" of TPM.
