Fred Phelps' self-parody grows more absurd. He's proclaimed that uber-conservative fellow-traveler Jerry Falwell "split Hell wide open" and plans to picket his funeral.

Update: Shirley Phelps-Roper is correct that I had the wrong Fred Phelps picture. I didn't realize that there was a swimmer named Phelps, I just saw a picture of someone named Fred Phelps screaming. My deepest apologies to the swimmer Michael Phelps' father, Fred. For those joining us late, the photo of the incorrect  Fred Phelps, hollering in what now appears to be joy, is here.
