Halifax based band Sons of Maxwell flew United Airlines to Nebraska in March of 2008. While on the ground at O'Hare, they heard another passenger exclaim, "My God, they're throwing guitars out there," and could only watch as baggage handlers mistreated their instruments.
After a year of trying to get the airline to pay the $1,200 repair cost, the band released their new song, "United Breaks Guitars" on YouTube. The video was popular even before the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago NBC affiliate covered the story. After the NYTimes did a story this morning, the video's been played nearly 2 million times. Enjoy!
